Microneedling vs Skin Boosters vs Polynucleotides – Which One Do You Actually Need?

If you’ve been researching skin treatments lately, you’ve probably come across terms like microneedlingskin boosters, and polynucleotides—and felt completely unsure which one is actually right for you.

The truth is, they’re all incredible treatments… but they do very different things.

As someone who offers results-driven treatments tailored to each client, I’m going to break it down simply so you can understand what your skin actually needs.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is one of my favourite treatments because it works with your skin to stimulate collagen and repair from within.

Tiny micro-injuries are created in the skin, which triggers your body’s natural healing response—boosting collagen and elastin production.

Best for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Dull, tired skin

What results to expect:
After one treatment, you should see some improvement, but a course of treatments will give the best results. Each session builds on the last, improving your skin over time. You can then maintain results with a top-up every 3–6 months.

What are Skin Boosters?

Think of them as an internal moisturiser—rather than sitting on top of the skin like skincare, they hydrate from within.Best for:

Dehydrated skinCrepey or thin skinLoss of glowFine lines caused by dryness

What results to expect:Your skin will look more plump, smooth, and radiant. This is a go-to if your skin feels dull or lacking hydration.

What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are one of the most advanced treatments in aesthetics right now. They work on a cellular level to repair, regenerate, and improve skin quality.

Rather than just hydrating or stimulating collagen, they actually help your skin function better and heal itself.

Best for:

  • Ageing skin
  • Loss of elasticity
  • Under-eye concerns
  • Skin that needs repair and regeneration
  • Rosacea
  • Helps improve skin prone to eczema and dermatitis

It is best to test skin that is prone to inflammatory responses when the skin is not having a flame up.

What results to expect:
This is more of a long-term skin health treatment. Results build gradually, improving skin strength, texture, and overall quality.

So… Which One Do You Need?

  • Need overall skin improvement & collagen boost? → Microneedling
  • Skin feeling dry, dull or lacking glow? → Skin Boosters
  • Want deeper regeneration & anti-ageing? → Polynucleotides

In many cases, the best results actually come from combining treatments in a plan tailored to you.

My Honest Advice

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people choosing treatments based on trends rather than what their skin actually needs.

Your skin is unique—and your treatment plan should be too.

That’s why I always take a results-driven, personalised approach, so you’re not wasting money on treatments that aren’t right for you.

There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to skin treatments—but when you choose the right one, the results can be incredible.

Healthy, glowing skin isn’t about doing everything—it’s about doing what’s right for you.

If you’re unsure where to start, I’m always happy to guide you.

Send me a DM and I can recommend the best treatment (or combination) based on your skin, your concerns, and your goals.
